REVEALED: See Kootenai County Sheriff 2024 Candidates Side-By-Side

The November 2024 ballot will have four candidates for sheriff of Kootenai County. The incumbent Robert “Bob” Norris running as a Republican, Independent candidate for Sheriff of Kootenai County Dan Wilson, then two other Independent candidates Kyle Woodward and Justin Nagel. Both Woodward and Nagel have failed to raise money for their respective campaigns in the months since they’ve entered the race, although they have published websites introducing themselves along with their backgrounds, qualifications, and ideas.

There has been one article recently published by The Inlander’s staff writer that lines out some of the differences between these four candidates as the Republican Incumbent Bob Norris Faces three Independent opponents in the race for Kootenai County Sheriff.

Despite a call for a legitimate public debate between Wilson and Norris issued by the Wilson campaign on July 17, 2024, there has been no response from Norris that would allow for Kootenai County voters to see these two candidates side-by-side. Norris’ refusal to debate Wilson, his only true viable opponent, has put the citizens of Kootenai County at a great disadvantage. The ability to see, hear and observe the candidates for sheriff on the same platform would be painfully revealing of Norris’ lack of transparency, true achievments, knowledge of the US Constitution, or ability to defend his position.

However, we do have a rare opporutnity to see these candidates side-by-side which has been made possible through Watchmen Ministry North Idaho. Watchmen Ministry approached each of the candidates for Kootenai County Sheriff with a request for video interiew, to which each candidate did respond. Sheriff Bob Norris was interviewed before the 2024 primary election and was asked the same four questions as the other candidates. The Bob Norris interview was published April 20, 2024. The interviews for Dan Wilson, Kyle Woodward, and Justin Nagel have been newly released on October 10, 2024, just prior to the general election on November 5th. These video interviews where all four candidates answer the same questions, unveils a never before seen snapshot into the differences of these candidates and their positions.

It should be noted that the questions were provided to the candidates in advance, allowing them to prepare their responses and are as follows:

  1. Being Sheriff is not an easy job, why do you want to be Sheriff?
  2. What are your top three priorities for the Sheriff’s office should you be elected?
  3. What are your thoughts on growth and how it will impact the Sheriff’s office over the next decade?  What long term planning would you recommend?
  4. What are the strongest qualities you possess and how do you feel they will benefit the Sheriff’s department and the citizens?
  5. Your Closing Statement
