Dan Wilson for Kootenai County Sheriff 2024

COMISSIONED RESERVE POLICE OFFICER

Dan served for 12 years as a commissioned, reserve police officer from 2011 to 2023 in the greater Spokane area. During this time, he logged thousands of patrol hours, received Spokane Police Department’s Rookie of the Year award in 2011 and Liberty Lake’s Volunteer of the Year award 2016. He holds a Level 1 certification in Advance Law Enforcement Rapid Response (ALERRT) and has graduated from numerous tactical courses for patrol rifle, tactical pistol, shotgun, and defensive tactics.

COMMERCIAL GENERAL CONTRACTOR

Unlike many politicians who have only been responsible for government budgets and have never risked their own treasure, Dan will bring this successful life experience to his role as Kootenai County Sheriff.

Dan has been a successful commercial general contractor and commercial casework contractor for almost 25 years, estimating and executing contracts successfully in the private, medical, local, state, and federal sectors. Being successful in executing multiple complex projects over the years has required him to have a 360-degree view of entire projects and to identify all risks, resources and logistics required to complete these projects per the contract. As a general contractor he’s required to know a lot about everything while also acknowledging he is not necessarily an expert in many of these things.

Dan’s approach for the past 24 years has been to identify and acquire a team of experts in multi disciplines and through their expertise and experience, utilize their recommendations as co-contributors to the overall mission plan. It is through collaboration with multiple experts that he has continually delivered quality projects on or below budget and on or ahead of schedule.

In 25 years, he has never been sued nor has he had a liability insurance claim against his work. He has successfully earned ongoing multi-year contracts with national healthcare organizations, the United States Air Force, and was chosen by the city of Spokane for two no compete contracts to construct emergency warming shelters during the 2020 Covid pandemic.

Dan brings over 24 years of experience in contract negotiations, budgeting projections, logistics and planning, employee relations, and customer relationships. He has managed millions of dollars in contracts at his own risk, has never had a claim against his surety bonds nor gambled with borrowed funds. He alone has been solely financially responsible for his decisions. He has never received any federal, state, or local grants and did not participate in the Paycheck Protection Program during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Including vast experience with city, state, and federal contracts, Dan’s business is a registered Small Business Enterprise. His past and current construction contracts include a national health care provider (Master IDIQ Contract 2019-2024), Group Health (Master Contract 2007-2013), Department of Defense (Fairchild Air Force Base 5-year ETOC 2023-2028) Dayton General Hospital, The City of Spokane and the State of Washington Employment Security Department to name just a few.

Unlike many politicians who have only been responsible for government budgets and who have never risked their own treasure, Dan will bring this successful life experience to his role as Kootenai County Sheriff.
