Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris Sends Crazy Email To Sheriff Candidate Dan Wilson
Media Source: The Idaho Sheriff
On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, Sheriff Robert “Bob” Norris sent what seemed to be an unhinged and demanding email to the staff at The Idaho Sheriff, which is the campaign to elect Dan Wilson for Kootenai County Sheriff in 2024.
The email from Sheriff Bob Norris starts by saying,
“I am publicly challenging you to a Show Your Proof Challenge regarding claims you have made AGAINST ME AND/OR COMMISSIONER MATTARE in your campaign for sheriff.”
The majority of this email signed at the end by Sheriff Bob Norris was written in all caps.
Sheriff Bob Norris doesn’t hesitate to accuse another candidate of criminal wrongdoing when in fact, Norris himself never produced proof that Dan Wilson had made any criminal accusations. Wilson stands by his testimony that as part of his campaign he has merely asked questions of Sheriff Bob Norris and County Commissioner Bruce Mattare that are matters of morals and ethics. Dan Wilson has also stated that “If in fact there becomes proof of criminal wrongdoing by Norris and/or Mattare, there would be legal action far more punitive than a $1,000 charitable donation.”
Sheriff Bob Norris created a grand display at his Show Your Proof Challenge where Wilson was not in attendance on March 14, 2024. The challenge was clearly a campaign stunt coordinated by Bob Norris and Bruce Mattare to embarrass and discredit Dan Wilson. Wilson further states that, “Ultimately what the Show Your Proof Challenge accomplished was proving how absolutely dependent Bob Norris is on special deputy Bruce Mattare. Their attempts to malign me have not only failed but also continue to raise questions regarding the inappropriate relationship between Norris and Mattare.”
Bob Norris signed his email in his official capacity as Sheriff Bob Norris which is a violation of campaign laws. Dan Wilson explains that “It’s clear that this event held at the Altar Church was a Bob Norris campaign rally complete with Norris for Sheriff signage and other campaign promotional items for sale in the lobby.”
Dan Wilson goes on to say, “This never was a request for a debate nor was it an equal playing field. You have two Kootenai County elected officials using the power of their elected office along with their constituents, to bully a legitimate candidate.”
