Dan Wilson responds to letter to the editor in the CDA Press on January 10, 2024 submitted by Dwight Van Horn.

There seems to be a common thread between many of the naysayers and attackers of Dan Wilson’s entrance into the race for Kootenai County Sheriff. In this Coeur d’Alene Press Letter to the Editor, Dwight Van Horn voices his criticism of Dan Wilson saying he is unimpressed by sheriff candidate’s announcement.

Dwight Van Horn states, “Just read Mr. Wilson’s announcement to run for Kootenai County Sheriff. Rather long on rhetorical hyperbole and short on qualifications.”

Wilson says, “Dwight Van Horn is yet another critic who is a former LASD Deputy now residing in Kootenai County.” In Dan Wilson’s statement on X posted January 14, 2024 he says that, “Relocated former SoCal cops sure do love keeping their people in local power here in Kootenai County. LASD is legendary in their culture of corruption.” Wilson poses the question, “While in his position as Deputy at LASD, Did Mr. Van Horn stand up against such corruption or did he flee with his pension to Kootenai County?”

It should also be noted that former LASD Deputy Dwight Van Horn has endorsed Bob Norris in the 2024 election for Kootenai County Sheriff as seen in the photo to the right sourced from the Norris election website.
