On January 3, 2024 Robert “Bob” Norris has announced he will be running for re-election. See KHQ’s full news story here.
Dan Wilson officially announced his candidacy for Kootenai County Sheriff on December 6, 2023 at a live announcement rally in Coeur d’Alene.
Wilson’s priorities include supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States, curbing federal overreach, and protecting the life, liberty, and property of Kootenai County citizens.
As part of Norris’ campaign announcement, he said that in his next term he would like to build an “all-volunteer force of vetted citizens”. However, Wilson announced this same priority 3-weeks prior and has documented sources discussing a “posse of vetted citizens to help protect our county” in early 2023. Wilson had been rolling out this priority in podcast interviews and conversations including state reps, county officials, law enforcement, community leaders, and citizens.
The General Election is on November 5, 2024.
